The Douglas County Coroner’s Office and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Castle Rock,
Colorado, are working to identify the remains of an unknown male. Evidence of trauma was
noted. DNA analysis indicates he was of Italian ancestry, with family roots in southern Italy near Potenza. Despite extensive investigative genetic genealogy research, only very distant DNA relatives have been identified.

Investigators believe he died before the 1970s. Douglas County was a small rural community during the early to mid-1900s, with residents working in ranching, farming, railroads, stonework, and highway construction.
